Lakshya Sen Exits Thailand Open; Satwik-Chirag Reach Semifinals
India endured mixed fortunes at the Thailand Open 2026 in Bangkok on Friday. Lakshya Sen bowed out in the men’s singles quarterfinals after a hard-fought 19-21, 16-21 defeat against Thailand’s Olympic silver medallist Kunlavut Vitidsarn.
Despite recovering from an early deficit in the opening game, Lakshya could not overcome the home favourite. In contrast, India’s top men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty stormed into the semifinals with a dominant 21-12, 21-13 win over Japan’s Takumi Nomura and Yuichi Shimogami in just 41 minutes.
Meanwhile, P. V. Sindhu suffered a quarterfinal exit after losing 21-19, 18-21, 15-21 to Japan’s world No. 3 Akane Yamaguchi in a closely contested women’s singles clash.
