Soorma’s Six-Goal Surge Falls Short Despite Big Win Over Pipers

Soorma Hockey Club produced a dominant 6–1 win over SG Pipers in their final Men’s Hockey India League group match in Bhubaneswar, but narrowly missed qualification.

Needing a seven-goal margin, Soorma fell agonisingly short despite a stunning four-goal performance from Jeremy Hayward, who converted drag flicks and a penalty stroke. Lucas Martinez and Nicolas Keenan also found the net as Soorma applied relentless pressure throughout.

The Pipers, however, defended resolutely in the final minutes to deny Soorma the crucial seventh goal, ending their campaign despite an emphatic victory at the Kalinga Stadium.
