Shubman Gill Blames Middle Overs as GT Crumble to MI in IPL 2026

Shubman Gill admitted Gujarat Titans leaked too many runs in the middle overs after their crushing 99-run defeat to Mumbai Indians in IPL 2026.

MI piled up 199/5, powered by Tilak Varma’s stunning unbeaten 101, with Naman Dhir adding 45, while Kagiso Rabada took three wickets for GT. In response, GT faltered early as Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya struck crucial blows. The chase never recovered, with Ashwani Kumar leading MI’s bowling with a four-wicket haul. Gill said GT failed to assess the slower surface and couldn’t bowl consistent lengths.

The defeat pushed GT to sixth on the table, with Gill hoping for a strong comeback in upcoming away fixtures.
