Shreyas Iyer Calls Abhishek Sharma’s Record-Breaking Knock ‘Flawless’

India captain Shreyas Iyer praised Abhishek Sharma’s sensational 108 against Afghanistan, describing the young opener’s record-breaking innings as “flawless” after India completed a 3-0 T20I series sweep with a 127-run victory at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Abhishek smashed 108 from just 34 balls, hitting nine fours and 11 sixes. His explosive innings included a century from 30 deliveries, making it the fastest T20I hundred by an Indian men’s batter and the quickest by a batter from a Test-playing nation. It also ranks as the third-fastest century in men’s T20I cricket.

“He wasn’t bullying, but you have to respect the fact that Afghanistan came to India and hosted the series. It wasn’t an easy wicket, but the way Abhishek played today was flawless,” Iyer said after the match.

Abhishek’s innings helped India post 221/7 before Afghanistan were bowled out for 94. Iyer also praised the opener’s consistency and temperament, saying he has “his head on his shoulders” and thinks carefully about his game.
