Abhishek Sharma Smashes Fastest India Men’s T20I Century as India Sweep Afghanistan 3-0

Abhishek Sharma produced a breathtaking batting display at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Thursday, smashing a 30-ball century as India defeated Afghanistan by 127 runs to complete a 3-0 T20I series sweep.

The left-handed opener finished with 108 off just 34 balls, including nine fours and 11 sixes, striking at 317.65. His century was the fastest by an India men’s batter in T20Is, surpassing Rohit Sharma’s 35-ball hundred against Sri Lanka in 2017. It was also the fastest T20I century by a player from a Test-playing nation.

Abhishek reached his fifty in only 16 balls and shared a sensational 142-run opening partnership with Sanju Samson, who scored 50 from 35 deliveries. India posted 221/7 despite losing four wickets in the final four overs.

Afghanistan’s chase never gathered momentum after four wickets fell during the powerplay. Nitish Kumar Reddy and Ravi Bishnoi claimed three wickets each as Afghanistan were bowled out for 94 in 14.1 overs.

The victory gave India their second consecutive 3-0 T20I series win.
