Shrachi Bengal Tigers Beat Soorma Hockey Club 1-0 in Women’s HIL 2025-26
Shrachi Bengal Tigers began their Women’s Hockey India League (HIL) 2025-26 campaign with a narrow but well-earned 1-0 victory over Soorma Hockey Club at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Astro Turf Stadium in Ranchi.
Agustina Gorzelany’s powerful drag flick in the 11th minute proved to be the decisive moment of the match. Despite dominating possession and mounting sustained attacks, Soorma Hockey Club struggled to break through the Tigers’ resolute defence. They earned multiple penalty corners across all four quarters but failed to convert their chances. The Tigers, backed by disciplined defending and timely interceptions, absorbed pressure and made occasional counter-attacks to stretch play.
In the closing minutes, Soorma pushed hard for an equaliser, but the Tigers held firm to secure all three points in their season opener.
