Satwik-Chirag Storm Into Thailand Open Second Round With Comeback Win

Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty began their Thailand Open 2026 campaign with a gritty victory in Bangkok, advancing to the Round of 16 of the BWF Super 500 event.

The top-seeded Indian duo defeated Indonesia’s Putra Erwiansyah and Bagas Maulana 21-19, 23-21, 21-10 in a contest lasting over an hour. After trailing 16-11 in the opening game, the former world No.1 pair staged a superb comeback with seven consecutive points before dominating the decider. The reigning Asian Games champions are chasing their third Thailand Open title after previous triumphs in 2019 and 2024.

Meanwhile, India’s MR Arjun-Hariharan Amsakarunan and the Panda sisters suffered first-round exits in Bangkok.
