Riyan Parag fined for vaping during IPL match
Riyan Parag, captain of Rajasthan Royals, has been fined 25 per cent of his match fee and handed one demerit point by the Indian Premier League after being caught vaping in the dressing room during Tuesday’s match against Punjab Kings.
Images of the incident were broadcast live and quickly spread across social media, drawing sharp criticism.
The IPL confirmed that Parag admitted to the offence and accepted the sanction. The incident has also prompted the Board of Control for Cricket in India to consider stricter action against the franchise and its officials to protect the league’s reputation. E-cigarettes remain banned in India under a 2019 law.
