PV Sindhu, Tanvi Sharma Storm into Australian Open Badminton Quarterfinals

Two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu and teenage sensation Tanvi Sharma advanced to the women’s singles quarterfinals of the Australian Badminton Open with impressive victories on Thursday.

Sindhu defeated fellow Indian Isharani Baruah 22-20, 21-12 to set up a last-eight clash against Chen Su-yu. Meanwhile, 17-year-old Tanvi outclassed Malvika Bansod 21-13, 21-15 to reach her second quarterfinal of the year. She now faces top seed and three-time world champion Akane Yamaguchi.

In men’s doubles, MR Arjun and Hariharan Amsakarunan progressed to the next round, keeping India’s hopes alive.
