PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen and Ayush Shetty Advance to China Open Second Round
Indian shuttlers PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen and Ayush Shetty progressed to the second round of the China Open after winning tough three-game encounters in Changzhou.
Fresh from her Japan Open title, Sindhu defeated fellow Indian Unnati Hooda 21-14, 9-21, 21-10 to set up a blockbuster clash with fourth seed Chen Yufei. Lakshya Sen overcame Japan’s Yushi Tanaka 22-20, 15-21, 21-14, while Ayush Shetty stunned World No. 11 Alwi Farhan of Indonesia 21-17, 5-21, 21-17 in one of the biggest upsets of the opening round.
However, India endured disappointment in the doubles events as all three pairs bowed out in straight-game defeats against higher-ranked opponents.
