PV Sindhu Stuns World No. 5 Han Yue to Reach Japan Open 2026 Quarterfinals
PV Sindhu produced one of her best performances of the season to defeat world No. 5 Han Yue 21-16, 21-14 and storm into the women’s singles quarterfinals of the Japan Open Super 750.
The two-time Olympic medallist dominated the Chinese shuttler in just 35 minutes, extending her head-to-head record to an impressive 8-1. After edging a closely fought opening game, Sindhu took complete control of the second, racing to an 8-0 lead before sealing a convincing straight-games victory. The world No. 10 will next face former world champion Nozomi Okuhara of Japan for a place in the semifinals.
Sindhu is now India’s lone remaining hope in the tournament after the early exits of the other Indian shuttlers.
