Cristiano Ronaldo Fails to Score as DR Congo Hold Portugal to 1-1 Draw

Cristiano Ronaldo was unable to find the net as Portugal were held to a surprising 1-1 draw by Democratic Republic of the Congo in their FIFA World Cup 2026 Group K opener.

Portugal took the lead in the sixth minute through Joao Neves, who headed home from a Pedro Neto cross. However, DR Congo responded just before halftime when Yoane Wissa powered in a header to score his nation’s first-ever World Cup goal. Portugal dominated possession but struggled to create clear chances, managing only one shot on target.

The result earned DR Congo their first-ever World Cup point and put early pressure on Portugal’s campaign.
