Marnus Labuschagne Dropped as Australia Announce ODI Squad
Marnus Labuschagne has been dropped from Australia’s ODI squad for the upcoming tours of Zimbabwe and South Africa as selectors begin shaping their team for next year’s World Cup.
The experienced batter, a key member of Australia’s 2023 World Cup-winning side, has paid the price for his recent poor form, with his Test future also under scrutiny. Rising talents Cooper Connolly, Ollie Peake and Joel Davies have been included as Australia look towards the next generation. Mitch Marsh, Travis Head and Josh Hazlewood return, while Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc will feature only in the South Africa leg as part of workload management.
Australia will play six ODIs this month before facing South Africa in a three-Test series in October. Australia A will also tour India with four-day and one-day matches.
