Magnus Carlsen surged ahead with four wins and two losses, taking the sole lead with 11.5 points. Gukesh, who started the day as leader, lost twice to Carlsen, drew both games against Hikaru Nakamura, and suffered another defeat to Fabiano Caruana.
Reflecting on his performance, Gukesh admitted he “wasn’t sharp enough today.” Caruana trails Carlsen with 10.5 points, while Nakamura and Gukesh remain tied on seven in the innovative rapid event.
