Sri Lanka have announced a 16-member squad for the first Test against India, starting August 15 in Galle, with Dhananjaya de Silva named captain. Key batters Kusal Mendis and Pathum Nissanka have been ruled out due to injuries.
Mendis suffered a right hamstring injury during an LPL match on July 19 and is undergoing rehabilitation, while Nissanka is recovering from wrist surgery in London. Veteran wicketkeeper-batter Niroshan Dickwella has been recalled after last playing a Test in 2023.
