JSW Soorma Hockey Club secured their first win of the Women’s Hockey India League 2025-26, edging Ranchi Royals 2-1 at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Stadium on Monday.
Penny Squibb struck from a penalty corner in the first minute and later made a crucial goal-line clearance, setting the tone early. After sustained pressure, Olivia Shannon doubled Soorma’s lead in the 39th minute. Ranchi Royals fought back through Agostina Alonso’s 35th-minute goal and dominated possession late, but a disciplined Soorma defence held firm.
The result also confirmed SG Pipers’ place in the final in a tense, entertaining contest for home fans.
