Sindhu, Ayush Exit Indonesia Open; Hariharan-Arjun Reach Quarterfinals

India’s singles campaign at the Indonesia Open ended on Thursday after PV Sindhu and Ayush Shetty suffered defeats in their Round of 16 matches.

Sindhu lost 21-17, 21-15 to World No. 1 An Se Young, who once again proved too strong in key moments. Meanwhile, Ayush started brightly against Lee Cheuk Yiu by winning the opening game, but eventually fell 16-21, 21-13, 21-14.

With India’s singles challenge over, the men’s doubles pair of Hariharan Amsakarunan and Ruban Kumar Rethinasabapathi Arjun provided a bright spot, battling back to reach the quarterfinals after defeating Malaysia’s Aaron Tai and Kang Khai Xing.
