Rain Washes Out India vs England 1st T20I After Shreyas Iyer, Abhishek Sharma Shine

The opening T20I between India and England at the Riverside Ground ended in a no-result after heavy rain prevented England from beginning their chase of 190.

India posted an impressive 189/7 thanks to captain Shreyas Iyer’s 68, Abhishek Sharma’s explosive 59 off 24 balls and Shivam Dube’s unbeaten 42. Despite slipping to 6/2 early, India recovered through an 82-run partnership between Abhishek and Iyer. Abhishek also became the fastest batter to hit 100 sixes in T20Is, achieving the feat in just 785 deliveries.

Persistent rain after India’s innings left the outfield unplayable, forcing officials to abandon the match without a ball bowled in England’s innings.
