India finish second in Group A after narrow loss to China in Thomas Cup
India national badminton team finished second in Group A of the Thomas Cup after going down 3-2 to defending champions China in their final round-robin clash in Horsens on Wednesday. Despite the defeat, India had already secured a quarterfinal berth with earlier wins over Canada and Australia.
Ayush Shetty and HS Prannoy secured India’s two wins, while Lakshya Sen and the doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty lost close battles.
India will now await the quarterfinal draw as they aim to repeat their historic title-winning run from 2022.
