Rashid Khan to Lead Afghanistan Squad for T20 World Cup 2026
Afghanistan Cricket Board has appointed Ibrahim Zadran as Afghanistan’s new T20I captain for the upcoming white-ball series against Sri Lanka, replacing Rashid Khan. The leadership change follows Afghanistan’s group-stage exit at the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup and aligns with the board’s long-term strategy under new head coach Richard Pybus.
Several senior players have been omitted, while fresh faces including Zia Ur Rahman Sharifi earn opportunities. The T20Is will be played in Sharjah from March 13-17, followed by ODIs in Dubai from March 20-25, subject to regional conditions.
