Harry Kane Scores Twice as England Beat Congo DR to Reach FIFA World Cup 2026 Round of 16

England captain Harry Kane inspired a dramatic comeback as the Three Lions defeated Congo DR 2-1 to reach the FIFA World Cup 2026 Round of 16.

Brian Cipenga stunned England with an early opener, but Kane rescued Thomas Tuchel’s side with goals in the 75th and 86th minutes after Congo goalkeeper Lionel Mpasi produced a string of outstanding saves. The victory marked England’s first World Cup comeback from a half-time deficit since 1986 and preserved their unbeaten record against African teams at the tournament.

England will now face co-hosts Mexico in the Round of 16, while Congo DR exit after an impressive and spirited World Cup campaign.
