Brian Cipenga stunned England with an early opener, but Kane rescued Thomas Tuchel’s side with goals in the 75th and 86th minutes after Congo goalkeeper Lionel Mpasi produced a string of outstanding saves. The victory marked England’s first World Cup comeback from a half-time deficit since 1986 and preserved their unbeaten record against African teams at the tournament.
