Glenn Maxwell’s 82 Keeps Belfast Wolves’ ETPL Qualification Hopes Alive

Belfast Wolves kept their ETPL qualification hopes alive with a nine-run DLS victory over Edinburgh Castle Rockers in Match 29 at Malahide. Glenn Maxwell’s unbeaten 82 powered Belfast to 190/4 before Edinburgh finished on 137/6 in their revised 15-over chase.

Maxwell smashed 82 from just 40 balls, hitting eight fours and five sixes, while David Miller provided late acceleration with 38 off 19 deliveries. Harry Manenti added 34 as Belfast posted a challenging total.

Edinburgh’s chase was disrupted by regular wickets. Andries Gous scored 34, while Mitchell Santner made 23 off 13. Tom Curran produced a stunning late cameo, smashing an unbeaten 30 from only seven balls, including four sixes and a four, but Edinburgh fell nine runs short of their DLS target.

Matthew Humphreys starred with the ball for Belfast, taking 2/9 from three overs, while Chris Jordan also claimed two wickets.

Edinburgh’s total was sufficient to secure their qualification through net run rate, joining Amsterdam Flames in the top three. Belfast must now wait for Rotterdam Dockers’ final result. A Rotterdam win sends them through, while a defeat puts Belfast into the qualification spot.
