England Reclaim No. 1 T20I Ranking After 3-0 Series Sweep Over Sri Lanka

England returned to the top of the T20I world rankings after completing a dominant 3-0 series sweep over Sri Lanka with an eight-wicket victory at Old Trafford on Saturday. After winning the opening match by 119 runs and the second by six wickets, England again produced a one-sided performance.

Sri Lanka were bowled out for just 124, with Sonny Baker, Jofra Archer and Will Jacks taking two wickets each.

England then raced to the target in under 10 overs. Jos Buttler led the chase with an unbeaten 62 and shared an 85-run partnership with captain Harry Brook, who scored 170 runs across the series.

The result extended England’s impressive record to 23 wins from their last 26 T20Is and moved them back above world champions India at the top of the rankings. England and India have exchanged the No. 1 position three times in the past two months.

Brook praised his team’s all-round performance, while Sri Lanka captain Charith Asalanka called the series a “very disappointing” campaign and said it highlighted the gap between Sri Lanka and the world’s leading T20 teams.
