Germany Crush Curaçao 7-1 to Make Flying Start at FIFA World Cup 2026

Germany delivered one of the standout performances of the FIFA World Cup 2026 so far, powering to a commanding 7-1 victory over Curaçao in a match that showcased their attacking depth and clinical finishing. The result also saw Germany extend their record as the FIFA World Cup’s highest-scoring nation, taking their tally to 239 goals in tournament history.

Germany wasted little time asserting their dominance, opening the scoring in the 6th minute through Felix Nmecha. The midfielder combined neatly with Florian Wirtz before curling a superb effort into the net from the edge of the area. Curaçao produced a memorable moment in the 21st minute when Livano Comenencia capitalised on a defensive error and fired home a brilliant strike to level the scores.

The goal marked Curaçao’s first-ever FIFA World Cup goal and was scored by the youngest player in their squad, creating a historic milestone for the nation. Germany regained control before the break as Nico Schlotterbeck headed home from a corner in the 38th minute to score his first international goal. Deep into first-half stoppage time, Felix Nmecha won a penalty which Kai Havertz converted to give Germany a 3-1 advantage heading into the interval. The four-time champions continued their attacking onslaught after the restart. Jamal Musiala made it 4-1 in the 47th minute with a sharp finish from a tight angle following an assist from Joshua Kimmich. Nathaniel Brown then registered his first goal for Germany in the 68th minute before Deniz Undav added a sixth 10 minutes later.

Havertz completed the scoring in the 90th minute, delicately chipping the goalkeeper to secure his second goal of the evening and cap off a dominant team performance.

With goals spread across the squad and contributions from several key players, Germany underlined their credentials as title contenders with an emphatic opening victory. While the result belonged to the Germans, Curaçao will leave the match with a piece of history thanks to Comenencia’s landmark strike.
