Italian star Flavio Cobolli reached his first-ever Grand Slam semifinal after defeating Felix Auger-Aliassime 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 in the French Open quarterfinals.
The 24-year-old produced a remarkable comeback under the Court Philippe-Chatrier roof to secure the biggest win of his career. Cobolli’s victory guarantees an Italian presence in the Roland Garros men’s final, as he will face either Matteo Berrettini or Matteo Arnaldi in the semifinals.
The Rome-born player climbed to a career-high No. 10 in the live ATP rankings and moved closer to a Top 10 debut. His breakthrough run also ensured the first all-Italian men’s Grand Slam semifinal in tennis history.
