England Drop Zak Crawley for New Zealand Test Series After Ashes Struggles
Zak Crawley has been dropped from England’s squad for the opening Test against New Zealand following his disappointing Ashes campaign.
England named three uncapped players — Emilio Gay, Sonny Baker and James Rew — for the Lord’s Test starting June 4, while fast bowler Ollie Robinson earned a recall after a two-year absence. Crawley managed only 273 runs during England’s heavy 4-1 Ashes defeat in Australia and has struggled for form in county cricket.
Durham opener Emilio Gay is expected to replace him at the top of the order after an impressive domestic season. England captain Ben Stokes will lead the revamped squad.
