David Warner to accept responsibility in drink-driving case

David Warner will accept responsibility for a drink-driving offence after appearing before a Sydney court, his lawyer confirmed on Thursday.

The former Australian opener faces a middle-range drink-driving charge after allegedly being more than twice the legal alcohol limit during a roadside test in Sydney in April. According to reports, Warner was driving a van when he stopped short of a random breath-testing site before being tested and later taken to a police station.

Warner’s lawyer said the cricketer would take accountability for his actions, adding that such mistakes can happen to anyone regardless of profession. The 39-year-old, who captains Sydney Thunder, did not appear in court, with the next hearing scheduled for June 24.
