Shanaka Apologises as Sri Lanka Exit T20 World Cup 2026
Dasun Shanaka apologised to fans after Sri Lanka were knocked out of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup despite a spirited fight against Pakistan at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on Saturday.
Shanaka’s unbeaten 76 nearly chased down 212, but Sri Lanka fell short by five runs. He admitted the game was “that close” and credited Shaheen Afridi for defending 28 in the final over.
Shanaka cited injuries to key bowlers as a major setback, saying a full-strength squad could have reached the semifinals, while praising youngsters like Pawan for their progress.
