China Masters Srikanth, Satwik-Chirag Advance; Lakshya Sen Knocked Out
Kidambi Srikanth and the Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty pair advanced at the BWF China Masters, while Lakshya Sen suffered a straight-games defeat in Shenzhen on Wednesday.
Srikanth defeated Chinese Taipei’s Chi Yu Jen 21-18, 21-15 in 35 minutes to reach the men’s singles pre-quarterfinals. Fourth seeds Satwik and Chirag also progressed, beating Malaysia’s Junaidi Arif and Kang Khai Xing 21-11, 21-16. World No. 20 Tanvi Sharma advanced in women’s singles with a 21-16, 21-17 win over Denmark’s Amalie Schulz. Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto reached the mixed doubles pre-quarterfinals, while Rohan Kapoor-Ruthvika Shivani Gadde lost.
Lakshya Sen exited after losing 14-21, 7-21 to Canada’s Victor Lai, his third defeat against Lai this year. Kiran George also suffered a three-game loss.
