Chamari Athapaththu produced a sensational unbeaten century to lead Sri Lanka to a commanding nine-wicket victory over Ireland in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
Chasing 131, Athapaththu smashed 106 not out off just 61 balls, striking 17 fours and two sixes, as Sri Lanka reached 134/1 in only 15.3 overs. Her fourth T20I century came after a 101-run opening partnership with Imesha Dulani. Earlier, Ireland recovered from a poor start through captain Gaby Lewis, who scored 59, helping her side post 130/5.
