Carlos Alcaraz qualifies for ATP Finals semifinals
World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz secured a place in the ATP Finals semifinals after Alex de Minaur’s 7-6(3), 6-3 win over Taylor Fritz on Thursday, making the Spaniard’s path clear with two group victories.
Alcaraz will top the Jimmy Connors Group if he beats Lorenzo Musetti; a loss places him second. The 22-year-old is also chasing the ATP Year-End No. 1 ranking, needing his 70th win of the season to secure it and deny Jannik Sinner.
If Musetti wins, he qualifies alongside Alcaraz. De Minaur stays alive at 1-2, while Fritz is eliminated despite last year’s runner-up finish.
