Bangladesh Beat Ireland in 1st test
Bangladesh defeated Ireland by an innings and 47 runs inside four days in Sylhet, propelled by centuries from Mahmudul Hasan Joy (171) and captain Najmul Hossain Shanto (100) and Hasan Murad’s four-wicket haul (4-60).
Ireland resisted briefly, with Andy McBrine scoring 52 and putting on a 66-run seventh-wicket stand with injured captain Andy Balbirnie. Taijul Islam claimed three wickets, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz supported with tight spells.
Despite some DRS drama favouring Ireland, Bangladesh dominated with disciplined bowling. Ireland’s lower order, led by Jordan Neill and Barry McCarthy, added 54 runs but could not avert an innings defeat.
