FIDE world Cup 2025
Arjun Erigaisi entered the FIDE World Cup 2025 quarterfinals after rejecting a draw from Levon Aronian and converting a tense position with a decisive triple attack on the 38th move.
Having drawn the first game, Arjun trapped Aronian’s king in the h1 corner to seal victory with black. He said the draw offer boosted his confidence. Arjun now awaits the winner of the Wei Yi–Samuel Sevian match. Also advancing were Wei Yi, Nodirbek Yakubboev, and Sindarov Javokhir, while three matches, including P. Harikrishna’s, head to tiebreaks after the Indian GM settled for another draw against Jose Eduardo Martinez Alcantara.
