Anastasia Potapova beats Amanda Anisimova
Anastasia Potapova continued her impressive 2026 season by defeating 2025 US Open finalist Amanda Anisimova in straight sets to reach the women’s singles fourth round at Flushing Meadows for the first time.
The No. 24 seed overcame Anisimova 6-2, 7-5 in one hour and 39 minutes at Louis Armstrong Stadium. Potapova dominated the opening set before facing a tougher challenge in the second, with Anisimova breaking twice to take the lead. However, the Russian immediately responded on both occasions before sealing victory 7-5.
The result marks Potapova’s third Grand Slam Round of 16 appearance, following fourth-round runs at the 2024 and 2026 French Open. She will next face No. 5 seed Mirra Andreeva or Czech teenager Nikola Bartunkova.
