Aiden Markram led from the front as South Africa thrashed West Indies by nine wickets in the first T20I at Boland Park.
The skipper smashed a career-best 86 not out off 47 balls, studded with nine fours and three sixes, as the hosts chased 173 with ease. An opening stand of 83 with Lhuan-dre Pretorius laid the foundation before Ryan Rickelton added an unbeaten 40.
Earlier, Shimron Hetmyer’s 48 was the lone resistance for West Indies, who faltered after the powerplay. Left-arm spinner George Linde starred with three for 25, sealing a dominant win ahead of the T20 World Cup.
