Bavuma, Miller Centuries Help South Africa Beat Australia
Centuries from Temba Bavuma and David Miller powered South Africa to a 32-run victory over Australia in the second ODI at the Wanderers Stadium on Sunday, sealing the three-match series 2-0.
Bavuma scored 103 while Miller smashed a career-best 142 off just 93 balls as South Africa posted 365/9 after being asked to bat first. The pair shared a crucial 156-run fourth-wicket partnership, with Miller hitting 12 fours and nine sixes. Australia made a strong start to the chase, with Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head adding 130 for the opening wicket. Both batsmen scored 84, but Australia struggled against South Africa’s spinners in the middle overs.
Keshav Maharaj, Bjorn Fortuin and Aiden Markram bowled their full quotas as Australia eventually fell short at 333 all out. Xavier Bartlett provided late resistance with a quickfire 50 off 28 balls, but South Africa held their nerve to secure another win.
The result extended South Africa’s remarkable record to six consecutive ODI series victories over Australia since 2016/17. Miller’s century was his eighth in ODIs and fourth against Australia.
