Australia have strengthened their Test squad for the upcoming series against South Africa by adding Nic Maddinson and Sam Harper following Josh Inglis’ injury. Inglis fractured a finger during the ODI series and has been ruled out of the opening Test.
Australia also face uncertainty over Cameron Green, who suffered an abdominal strain and is racing to recover in time. Matt Renshaw, meanwhile, is expected to play despite being struck on the right hand during the third ODI.
Maddinson’s selection marks an impressive return for the 34-year-old, who underwent treatment for testicular cancer in 2025. Harper has also earned his call-up after scoring a century for Australia A this week.
The first Test is scheduled to begin in Durban on October 9.
